Southwell Artspace is managed by a Board of members committed to the successful development of Artspace by contributing their arts and business experience. The day to day running of the project is by the Executive Officer and Gallery Co-ordinator.
Southwell Artspace is a registered company limited by guarantee. It is a not for profit organisation, established for public benefit and for the advancement of education, culture, arts and heritage. Any funds, earnings and profits are distributed in furtherance of these charitable objectives.
Board Members
Elaine Akester
Elaine is an experienced organisational and personal coach and mentor,
with a real passion for the visual arts. Based in Nottingham, she provides coaching and mentoring to all types of organisations and individuals to enhance their performance and help them gain clarity of vision.
Peter Cartwright
Peter is a Southwell-based artist and former senior lecturer in Fine Art, Nottingham Trent University
Richard Davey
Richard is the Chairman of the Board and has been involved with the gallery since its inception. A Director of Culture East Midlands, a published art critic and curator with a wide experience of working with artists and supporting their work. He is the current Chaplain of Nottingham Trent University.
Jill Hyde
Jill is the Learning Area Manager for Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Media at Newark and Sherwood College. An experienced freelance graphic designer, she has taught Art, Graphics and Media Production at FE level since 1991.
Tim Harris
Tim is and Arts Consultant and former Head of Arts at Nottinghamshire County Council.
Derek Sprawson
Derek is a Director of the Board and a Southwell based artist and senior lecturer in Fine Art, Nottingham Trent University.
Alan Radford
Alan is a lawyer with Browne Jacobson, Nottingham and a Southwell resident
David Willets
David is an artist, based in Southwell and a retired Fine Art lecturer, Nottingham Trent University
Jim Waters
Jim is a curator and project manager with experience of venue development and partnership programmes
Georgina Bell
Georgina is Artspace’s artist representative who has been a studio holder since the organisation opened in March 2005

Trained as an arts manager and curator, experienced in delivering arts projects in a variety of contexts from hospitals to schools and galleries.
