- Gallery 37 Plus, visual arts programme

Gallery 37 Plus is a cross-arts youth engagement programme for 16 – 24 year olds which focuses on intensive summer activity involving a range of art forms including media, fashion, dance, design and the visual and performing arts. A national scheme with its rural area based in Newark and Sherwood.

Southwell Artspace was responsible for the project management, recruitment of artists and development of the visual arts programme of Gallery 37 Plus. Two artists were recruited, Andrew Tebbs as lead artist and Cynthia Harrison as assistant artist to work alongside young people throughout the four week programme.

These young people who might have faced challenging circumstances in their lives learnt new skills as well as develop existing ones. They were able to develop an artistic skill and use technologies or techniques that they might otherwise not have access to. During the programme opportunities to pursue routes into education, training or work placements were highlighted and all participants worked towards an exhibition.

Gallery 37 Plus took place between Monday 7th July and Saturday 2nd August 2008 at Thoresby Gallery situated in Thoresby Park, in the heart of North Nottinghamshire.
