Southwell Artspace - closure
Southwell Artspace is to close in early 2009.
Flurrying with activity, Artspace hosted a variety of events and activities to celebrate the BIG DRAW, the national campaign for drawing, including ‘drop-in’ drawing, pop-up story book making and computer animation.
October culminated in an exhibition of the art work produced at ‘Drawing time’ - everyone in the picture, the event held at the Minster, organised by the Southwell Artists Group.
Drop in Drawing Saturday 13 October 2007
Invited to ‘drop-in and draw’ were children of under 8 in order to celebrate national BIG DRAW day. Around 30 children, toddlers and their parents dropped into Artspace to contribute their own special coloured drawings to a huge collaborative work.
Pop-up! Thursday 25th October 2007
Building their own fantasy world, eleven children under the age of 12 got involved in designing a pop-up story book with artist Sian Watson.
Animate! Friday 26th October 2007
Animating their own tales, six young people aged 11 to 16, spent the day in this digital drawing workshop with Artspace artist Geoff Litherland.
‘Drawing time’ - everyone in the picture 3 November to 11 November 2007
Celebrating the popular BIG DRAW event hosting by the Southwell Artists Group in Southwell Minster on Saturday 27th October. Everybody, of all ages and abilities were welcomed to the Minster to take part in creative activities ranging from large-scale drawing, collaborative murals to patchwork and stained glass. Southwell Artists Group present the results from this public event in a special exhibition at Artspace.
